The Whale Shark tour

Tour closed because of season is finished – Whale Sharks to return by November 15

Swim with a Whale shark in the Bay of La Paz. Enjoy snorkeling with this amazing species in their natural environment! The tour is available from November until May, includes the use of snorkeling equipment, water, soft drinks, neoprene suit. Availability according to the weather.

  • Your reservation is Direct, with an Operator which has an office in La Paz.
  • Usage of sanitized snorkeling gear

  • Entrance fee to the Whale Shark Shelter Waters

Day 1 :
Whale Shark Tour

10:10 Appointment at Point of Departure in La Paz Malecon (Waterfront)
10:30 Approach to the boat and out to the point of inspection
11:00 Visit to the Whale Shark Shelter Area, Swimming
14:30 Return to Pier

Important: The Entrance and Exit schedule of the Area Shelter of the Whale Shark is coordinated by the Environmental Authorities. There may be changes without notice by the demand of the Area, Weather Conditions and Availability of the Species.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring?

You should bring a bathing suit that will allow you to swim in comfort. Remember that your reservation includes the use of a suit of neoprene (wetsuit) and you'll get the same on your swimsuit.

Also bring a towel, sunscreen or sunblock that are compatible with reefs (reef-safe), shoes or sandals that can get wet and eager to have fun!.

Who can do the activity?

People who know how to swim, from children to seniors, with knowledge of swimming, core and confidence to enter the sea.

Taking into account that it is an activity of moderate to intense physically, and if you have a heart problem, of high or low blood pressure, respiratory, nervous, or muscular, you should consult with your doctor before you do it.

Sharks swim at about the speed that a person walks. You have to know how to use the snorkel equipment to swim with whale sharks.

In case you can't use the gear or you don't know how to swim, you can stay on board and watch the sharks from the boat.
